Tom Ben Lindley is a singer songwriter from west Texas. He grew up playing the guitar and writing songs from an early age. At the age of eleven he began playing violin in the orchestra and after five years playing classical music he began to realize that teenage girls prefer guitar players. So he put away his fiddle and bow to play rock and roll. After moving to Austin and playing in various rock bands his country roots reemerged and began listening to the music he was raised on, “Outlaw Country”. He immediately joined songwriting associations to learn the craft of songwriting to hone in on his passion, shortly afterwards he formed a band and began playing honky tonks and clubs throughout south and west Texas.
As luck would have it, a friend of his from his home town of Del Rio “Blondie Calderon” was the long time band leader and piano player for the legendary Ray Price. Thanks to Blondie he had the opportunity to “hang out” with country music royalty and worked like crazy trying to get a gig as the opening act. It didn’t come over night, but after years of paying his dues he got the opportunity to open for Ray and Johnny Bush one night which then led to playing the Willie Nelson Picnic on the side stage in the Woodlands October 2000. Along with Willie, Ray, and Johnny, Tom Ben has opened for other notable acts such as: Waylon, Tracy Byrd, David Allen Coe, Jerry Jeff Walker, Johnny Rodriguez, Pat Green, Cory Morrow, Kevin Fowler, Dale Watson, Jack Ingram, Charlie Robison, Jesse Dayton and others… Tom Ben is currently working on a new Record.
Aside from various Rodeo and local club appearances in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana and Europe, Tom Ben will be releasing a new Album with pre-release due out this Fall.
